I recommend a Bob Zavoral board. I own a few of those myself and I am
very staisfied with them. Not only do they offer excellent playing
conditions, but also they are very good looking. Those boards are
custom made and one can chose among many variety of colors and
checkers. They can be viewed and ordered at:
http://www.zavoralbackgammonboards.com
They range around 600$ and up but they are worth the money.
One other source are the mexican handcrafted boards of Mike Haddad
which can be seen at: http://www.bak.com.mx. They look great and the
very original and range between 300$ and 500$. (I personally like the cow
skin a lot).
Renzo Romagnoli from Italy offers also high quality boards, a mixture
of wood and fine leather. Those boards range around 500$ and up and
can be viewed at: http://www.renzoromagnoli.it
Also Hector Saxe from Paris offers a nice choice of boards which range
around 500$. Take a look at: www.hector-saxe.com
You may also want to contact Carol Joy Cole who offers various boards
from around the globe, including some nice Brazilian boards from
Aries, etc. Her online-shop is at:
