Backgammon Galore: Beavers. When a player is doubled, he may immediately redouble (beaver) while retaining possession of the cube. The original doubler has the option of accepting or refusing as with a normal double. Backgammon FAQ (damish): It should be noted that the original cube turner can drop a beaver. For example, suppose I miscount a bearoff and double, you accept and say you want to beaver. I realize something is wrong and recount. If I am horribly behind, I can drop the beaver, paying you the value on the cube before you beavered. -michael j zehr GNUBG allows dropping beavers, FIBS allows dropping beavers, how about other bots and servers? Based on all that, I don't see anything wrong at all with dropping a beaver. Raccoon  writes: David Montgomery's answer on r.g.bg in 1997: "Just as there are no uniform rules on beavers, raccoons, etc., there is variation wrt this. Some people play you can drop beavers, some play that you cannot.
