For those of you interested in backgammon variants:

I have completed an alpha version of Soumille, The First Trictrac Program.
You can read about the game and the program at
http://pages.sbcglobal.net/david.levy/trictrac/.

The computer opponent is based on a neural net and seems to play reasonably
well. I have profited greatly from the gnubg source code and some pointers
from members of the gnubg team.

I have released the alpha Soumille to members of the Yahoo Trictrac Group.
You can join the group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/trictrac/. I expect
to release a beta to the group in the next many weeks and will probably
sell the production version for a small amount as shareware.
