Position 62a, page 118
From Better Backgammon, by Tim Holland

White to play 6-1.

This problem further illustrates the point of Position 62. Although the correct move seems obvious, I have often seen this game lost by good players because of poor judgment.

The correct play is to hit Black’s blot on your bar and move the same man to your 6 point. To leave a blot on your bar with plans of making this point is an unnecessary risk. By moving to the 6 point, only double 1s can hurt you, whereas otherwise you include 1 and 6.

In other words, you have chosen the play that gives you the least chance of losing.
