From Backgammon, the Cruelest Game, by Barclay Cooke and Jon Bradshaw

Black to play 6-5.

Bring one man from white’s 1 point all the way out to white’s 12 point. In backgammon parlance, this move is referred to as the lover’s leap. There is no good alternative. The 6-5 separates the favorable from the unfavorable rolls. It is not particularly advantageous and it forces black into an early running game.
