From Backgammon for Blood, by Bruce Becker

White to play 1-1.

For this throw, move two men from W6 to W5 and two men from W8 to W7.

There is no viable alternative to this move. it is a strong opener, even though it breaks up the valuable W8 point. The blot left there can be hit in only six ways (6-1, 1-6, 5-2, 2-5, 4-3, or 3-4); but if it is not hit and you cover it on your next throw (fifteen ways to do this) you probably can either throw the doubling cube or even go for a gammon.
