One I can heartily recommend is "Inside Backgammon" edited by
Bill Robertie and Kent Goulding. Now in it's 7th year, currently
4 quarterly issues cost $40 US (in the US). Each issue contains a
4 problem quiz (contest) the detailed solutions of the previous month's
quiz, plus articles on the cutting edge ideas of BG. Typically an
issue is 30-40 glossy, attractively formatted pages.

I believe that back issues are also available ($40 per volume--
6 issues per volume back then, but typically a few pages less per issue).
Not surprisingly, these back issues are LOADED with good info as well.

     From page 3 of vol 7, #1:

Inside Backgammon is published four times per year by
U.S. Backgammon Enterprises, Inc., P.O. Box 294, Arlington,
        MA 02174. Telephone 617-641-2091. Fax 617-641-2660.
        E-mail: robertie@world.std.com.
Subscription rates: $40 per volume in United States,
$50 for Canada, Mexico, and overseas surface mail, and
$65 for overseas air mail. Send subscriptions in US funds
to (same address as above). Subscriptions are by volume
        and indivisible.
