"Fighter's bracket"

You use a couple terms which I've seen before but am not clear on the
meaning. One term is "fighter's bracket".

Carter Mattig  writes:

Fighter's bracket is like a double elimination. When you get knocked out of
the main, you go to the fighter's bracket (shorter matches, more rounds)
then usually there are 8 who qualify for a playoff (main and fighter's).
Popular in Denmark; I like the format.

Just to add a bit to Carter's comments:

1. Fighter's bracket. The Nordic Open had a double elimination format (with
reentry to the main) in 2007, but not in 2008 (which had the usual main and
consolation), and the format was reintroduced in 2009 with the second
chance bracket renamed "fighter's bracket." The format was also used at the
2010 Nordic Open and Swedish Open.

Fighter's bracket is explained at

"Nordic Open 2010 will be based on a double elimination system where 8
players will qualify for the final rounds. A player losing in the main [17
point matches] has a second chance in the progressive fighter's bracket [11
point matches] before being eliminated from the tournament. The final 8
players (4 from main and 4 from fighters bracket) qualify for the final
rounds. The final rounds will be played as a normal cup system. All
matchups in the finals are played as best of three 7 pointer. We hope that
this format will bring lot of intensity and excitement to the game."
