Although some people (not many as i have seen) may use different rules
in Portes, the "universally recognized" = most common rules here in
Greece for Portes is that:
It's exactly like Backgammon except A) there is no doubling cube,
B) there is no "triple-win"=backgammon if you have a checker at the
opponent board or the bar and the opponent have beared off all his
ckeckers, C) the winner of the opening roll rerolls for his first
turn (important as opening rolls are now the doubles too--i hate that!)
and D) the winner of each game plays first the next game (i mean game
and not match of course).
