I have just started making custom-made BG boards and have completed my
first. In the design phase, I have concentrated on strength, accuracy of
checker fit, the playing area, colours, materials and custom options - such
as a dice and cube compartment.

The checkers are 50mm (red/white), so it is a large board. In stead of
going with plywood for the backing, I have used a thin layer of MDF as this
does not warp like plywood and adds strength to the overall structure.

My choice of wood for the rails was Itailan masarami as this is a hard wood
for extra durability. Pure brass but hinges (chunky) to add further
strength and brass catches to match. The playing area was constructed
using flotex (a high density material) treated to repel liquid and guard
against stains. At the same time providing a sound balance between role
and bounce. Prices range from £400 - £600 depending on preferences.

If you would a boardd made with your own special preferences then email me
