Position 55a, page 105
From Better Backgammon, by Tim Holland

White to play 1-1.

I have presented this problem to illustrate a direct contrast to Position 55.

Here, the correct play is to move all four men from White’s bar point to White’s 6 point. Now, the possibility of saving gammon is not remote, even without hitting one of Black’s men. Nor does it preclude your winning the game. Your plan is to move one man out of Black’s board on your next roll, thus forcing him to hit your remaining blot on his 1 point with any roll that contains an ace (with the exception of double 1s). If you hit, once again as in Position 55, you should be able to save a gammon and give yourself a small chance of winning.
