White to play 6-5.

The correct play is to make Black’s bar point. This establishes a good defensive position. It will also enable you to play a running game if you roll double 2s, 3s, 4s, or 5s, which will allow you to move in safety toward your home board. It would be incorrect to move your blot on Black’s 1 point to safety on Black’s 12 point. Your remaining blot on Black’s 2 point is now in change of being cut off from escape or of being pointed on.
