Position 80, page 152
From Backgammon, the Cruelest Game, by Barclay Cooke and Jon Bradshaw

Black to play 1-1.

Black must now protect himself from being forced to playa 6 from white’s bar point. Since he is far ahead in a race, he is in little hurry to put the men in from his bar point. More importantly, he can use them to play 6’s and thereby protect the stragglers on white’s bar point. The correct play is to move one man from his 6 point down to make his 2 point.

In this position black should leave himself as many 6’s as he can, the reverse of the tactic of the preceding diagram.
